BACK TO CINEMAS

As we begin to settle back in to doing the things we love, the WTW & Scott Cinema Group has been hard at work making sure our venues are even safer so that you can continue to enjoy new movies with a captivated audience. These procedures have been developed in line with Government guidance. When visiting the cinema, things may work a little differently for now - here's some of the core new policies and procedures you can expect to find when you visit us...

WATCHING A MOVIE

All auditoria are limited to a maximum of 35% of their physical capacity. Only alternate rows of seats are in use and nobody will be sat beside you.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

While queuing, please keep 1m away from the person in front of you. Please be respectful of other people when walking to or from the toilets as space is very limited in these areas. Please follow staff instructions when leaving the cinema.

BOOKING & PAYMENTS

Advance Booking is strongly advised - the booking fee has temporarily been reduced to allow for this. Some snacks and drinks may not be available. Please try to pay by card or contactless where possible.

HEALTH & HYGIENE

Screens are installed at all service points. Please use the hand sanitiser provided around the building. Staff are regularly disinfecting all contact points in the building and have all the necessary PPE required in order to safely do their jobs.

VENUE & SCREEN HIRE

VENUE & SCREEN HIRE

All of our cinemas offer Venue Hire facilities, and we can tailor any package to your criteria.

Whether you're looking for a group film screening, birthday party, or to hire a screen for a presentation or conference, the environment of a cinema auditorium offers unparalleled comfort at affordable prices.

With the latest in Digital Projection and sound technology at all locations, we are well equipped to handle a wide range of audio visual media and our experienced Cinema Managers and Technicians are on hand to help you every step of the way. Our NEC Digital Projectors feature crystal-clear visuals, and we can also playback custom-made Digital Cinema Prints.

We have covered many events in the past - from schools screenings of current release films, to Short Film Festivals on DVD and High Definition media, to corporate meetings, and industry screenings of upcoming feature films. We can also add in many refreshments options.

In all cases hire prices vary, depending on the customers requirements. The following outline some commonly requested options, however, as one size does not fit all, please contact us for accurate final pricing. In all cases in the prices below are minimum prices.

NON-FILM BASED HIRE

Non-film, out of hours, hire: Auditoria can be hired outside of normal operational hours* for non-film events, priced from £105 for up to four hours for a small auditorium. This is a basic auditorium hire that does not include a feature film, any technical support or any additional refreshments options. These are ideal for meetings and presentations, as well as technical run throughs of self-produced feature films.

Non-film, during operational hours, hire: Auditoria can be hired during normal operational hours* for non-film events, priced from £375 for up to two hours for a small auditorium. The additional cost is known as a "screening displacement fee" and reflects the cost we have to reimburse film studios for taking out regular shows of their performances.

Please be aware that screenings requested during peak times (i.e. Friday night, all day Saturday, Wednesday night) will carry a surcharge due to lost income from regular screenings displaced by a hire.

By non-film, this means that you don't need us to provide a feature film. You can, of course, provide your own film if this is why you're arranging a hire. Please note that we cannot screen commercially available DVD's or Blu-ray's without the copyright holders permission, and this classes as a film-based hire.

If you're supplying your own DCP (Digital Cinema Print), it should be mastered in SMPTE or Interop format and stored on an EXT2/3 format hard drive with a USB connection. You should ensure the DCP is delivered to the cinema for testing a couple of days prior to your event. Any KDM's should be sent in good time - server certificates are available on request for KDM generation.

FILM BASED HIRE - IF WE'RE PLAYING THE FILM

Film Based Hire: For Private Hires for a feature film that we are playing on the date you request and do have readily available on site, outside of normal operation hours*, the following applies:

  • Minimum base charge, for 25 people or fewer, for a film we are currently showing - £210
  • £1.50 additional per head for more than 25 people
  • An integrator fee (sometimes called a VPF payment) of between £17 and £59 depending on the day, and time of day.

Example: A morning hire at 10.00am for a film that we are currently showing, for 50 people:

 - Base price of £210 for the first 25 people
 - Additonal 25 people at £1/per head = £37.50
 - Integrator fee = £34.00
 - Total cost - £281.50

We have to pay a film distributor every time we screen their film. These costs assumes a feature film that has been on release for some weeks, and is available to us at a lower fee from the film distributor. For films in their first two weeks of release, the base price may be considerably higher depending on the film requested.

FILM BASED HIRE - IF WE'RE NOT PLAYING THE FILM

Film Based Hire: For Private Hires with a feature film that we are NOT playing on the date you request and do NOT have readily available on site (this includes commercial DVD movies, which must also be authorised for screening by the studio), outside of normal operation hours*, the following applies:

  • Minimum base charge, for 25 people or fewer, for a film we are NOT currently showing - £420. This is because we have to pay the respective film studio to hire the film, and all commercial screenings of feature films must be authorised by the copyright holder.
  • £1.50 additional per head for more than 25 people
  • An intergator fee (sometimes called a VPF payment) of between £17 and £59 depending on the day, and time of day.
  • Please be aware that screenings requested during peak times (i.e. Friday night, all day Saturday, Wednesday night) will carry a surcharge due to lost income from regular screenings displaced by a hire.
We have to pay a film distributor every time we screen their film. In the case of films that we are not playing, the above is a minimum price guide. Depending on the film requested, it is likely that additional charges will be applicable. Please be aware that we may not have available certain feature films, and if we are required to obtain any special licenses from a distributor to screen a film, then substantially higher incidental costs could be applied.

EXTRAS

We offer many additional options for screen hires. If watching a film, why not add a popcorn and drink combo deal from only £1.50, or a hot drink from only £1.50 (we may even throw in some free hot drinks for the adults for school party bookings!).

The supply of Technical Extras, such as wireless microphones, are generally available at no extra cost, and for special events, multi-format playback sources such as DVD, Blu-ray and PC are available. Do please let us know if you need any specialist equipment and we'll do our best to help.

If you need to screen from a Mac, or any other non standard source (such as broadcast tape), we'll need you to supply the playback hardware as well.

Please note that we can't play 3D from Blu-ray. If you're supplying your own 3D content, it must made wrapped as a cinema DCP.

For specialist screenings where a Technician is required to be in attendance, an additional fee of £50 will be payable.

AVAILABLE DATES & TIMES

Due to contractual obligations with regular film screenings, we are rarely able to offer any screen hire packages for the following times:

  • Wednesday evenings
  • Saturdays during operational hours
  • Friday evenings

In the above circumstances, why not consider our normal group discount for a regular performance, which is applicable to groups of 10 or more people. If we are able to accomodate you during a peak time, your hite will carry a surcharge due to lost income from regular screenings displaced by a hire.

*What constitutes normal operational hours? Once regular film screenings begin for the day in the cinema, all the films and times are agreed with film distributors in advance. We can't drop these shows without their permission, so private hires should be outside of these hours:

Barnstaple - All day, every day - 12.00pm - 23.30pm
Bridgwater, Bristol, Newton Abbot, Lyme Regis & Sidmouth - weekdays 4.00pm - 23.30, weekends 12.00pm - 23.30
East Grinstead & Exmouth - weekdays 1.00pm - 23.30, weekends 12.00pm - 23.30

We can try to be flexible though! Get in touch with your requirements and we'll see what we can do.

BASIC TERMS FOR PRIVATE HIRES

All private hire bookings have to be cleared by Scott Cinemas Ltd Head Office. If you're speaking to a cinema manager directly, they will confirm all bookings with HO first. For contractural reasons in relation to standard film screenings, we are under no obligation to accept all requests.

In all cases, a security deposit of £100.00 (paid by cash, cheque or credit/debit card) is required at least 7 (seven) days prior to the event. If the event is cancelled by the client less than 7 days beforehand, the deposit will become non-refundable and non-transferable.

The remainder of the final price must be paid before the event, up to and including the start time. This amount can only be paid by cash or credit/debit card. If the outstanding balance is not paid prior to the start time, then the hire will not continue.

If you are an educational establishment or a limited company, we can invoice the complete amount for payment by BACS or cheque.

All Private Hire parties are expected to abide by our standard Terms & Conditions of Ticket Purchase. A signature will be required by the client to demonstrate compliance with this aspect.

British Board of Film Classification ratings still apply for all attendees!

Don't worry if some of this doesn't make sense - our team will make sure you have an e-receipt for your booking, and there's a full set of information on there.
