event cinema

Welcome to Scott Cinemas Event Cinema... Bringing you the latest alternative entertainment to the ‘Big Screen’.

What is Event Cinema?
Cinemas are no longer being used just to show the latest movie blockbuster.  Here at Scott Cinemas we are bringing a range of cultural productions to the ‘Big Screen’ such as Opera, Sporting Events, Theatre Plays, Musical Productions, Ballets, Music Entertainment, Comedy Shows, Childrens’ Programming and Documentaries.  We are in association with Trafalgar Releasing, National Theatre Live, Cinema Live, Munro and Unique X.

Are these productions live events at the cinema?
Not all these productions are live at the cinema, some will be pre-recorded and then shown on the cinema screen, others will be a live streaming from the event as it takes place from around the world with stunning high definition and 6 channel sound.  So if you can’t make The Royal Opera House to see a production, you can watch it LIVE as it happens from your local cinema...  Please check the productions full details for more information. 'Encore' screenings are repeat showings of the previous live feed - made available in case you can't make the live event!

Are live performances actually live?
Yes! Each cinema is equipped with either one or two satellite systems in order to receive the broadcasts as they happen from the venue. There's usually a 5 minute delay on the satellite feed so that they can resolve any problems with the feed, but it's completely "as it happens." Because of the nature of live shows, it is possible, but very unlikely, that some picture artifacts may occur, as satellite systems are dependant on good weather, but the latest technologies help to keep any problems to a minimum.

Are these productions at all Scott Cinema venues?
Unfortunately not all our cinemas are able to offer Event Cinema productions. In some locations, local planning policy prevents us from having multiple satellite dishes, and as live broadcasts can be on one of two different frequencies, we may not be able to cover every event. We hope in the future to bring selected shows to most cinemas.  Please check the productions full details for participating cinemas.

How can I book tickets?
It is advisable that tickets are booked in advance for Event Cinema productions.  You can book tickets the same way you book a cinema ticket; online or in person at the cinema.

What Event Cinema productions are you showing?
To see individual productions please select a category below by clicking on their banners.

Can I use any special offer discounts with Event Cinema?
We're not able to accept Meerkat Movies for any Event Cinema show, nor will shows be priced inline with Saver Monday prices where they may fall on a Monday. Some Event Cinema companies regularly have newspaper offers, and you can check each individual season page to see if these are accepted. Guest Passes and Admit One tickets cannot be accepted, as all shows are classed as 'Free List Suspended.'
